Super elegant and soft cabernet from the Napa Valley floor in Oakville. Very round texture, soft and elegant. Harmonious layers of dried herb, blackberry, cassis, dried peach and spice…dusty and very pretty gingerbread on the balanced finish.
The fruit that went into this Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Oakvill, what might be described as the center of the Napa Valley and has long been associated with many of the great Cabs to come out. We are very happy that this particular wine can rub elbows with many of them. Its vineyard is located right on the valley floor between Route 29 and the Silverado Trail, this being an area with excellent soil potential and sunlight all the way from dawn until dusk. Cool temperatures at night allow for the full ripening of the acids, while the skins love that daily sun.
The 2005 growing season was a winemakers dream, though he may not have realized it at the time. An unseasonably cool and rainy spring set the stage for the grapes to achieve optimal acid and juice qualities. This was followed by a mild summer that allowed for slow ripening and the achievement of the skins and complex, soft tannins.
